LOCKDOWN PAYMENT

Written by on 28/06/2021

SMALL businesses affected by the Top End’s 48-hour snap lockdown are eligible for a one-off payment of $1000 to help cover ongoing costs.

Chief Minister Michael Gunner announced businesses with a turnover of less than $10 million, and with less than 20 full-time staff, and who have had to stop trading or suffered a 50 per cent drop in turnover during lockdown are eligible for the payment.

The Territory Business Lockdown Payment is available for all eligible businesses, not-for-profits or incorporated associations in the Darwin, Palmerston and Litchfield Council areas, and Wagait and Belyuen Shires.

Mr Gunner said the grants would open at midday on June 28.

“This lockdown is necessary, but I know it hurts as well. It is going to be especially hard for our small business owners who have had to shut down to help keep the rest of us safe,” he said.

“That’s why we are opening up a new support payment for affected Top End businesses from tomorrow – the Territory Business Lockdown Payment.”
