MINDIL BEACH CASINO RESORT’S 40TH BIRTHDAY

Mindil Beach Casino Resort is celebrating its 40th birthday… and everyone is invited to join in on the beachside lawns on Friday, 28th April, for an unforgettable evening of entertainment.
There will be food trucks serving delicious bites, live music, and a stunning firework display to cap off the night at 9.30pm.
Free Entry. Gates open at 5pm. Open to all ages (minors must be escorted by an 18+ guardian).
A timeline from the early days until now.
1979: Don Casino opens at the Don Hotel on Cavenagh Street in Darwin. It’s the first casino in Darwin and only the second in Australia.
1983: The license is transferred to the Mindil Beach Casino. Soon after, the Northern Territory Government acquires it, along with the Alice Springs Casino. A joint venture between Greate Bay Casino Corp and Aspinall Holdings is established to operate the two casinos.
1985: Mindil Beach Casino is renamed Diamond Beach Hotel and Casino.
1995: MGM Grand acquires the property and renames it MGM Grand Darwin.
2004: SkyCity Group acquires ownership of the Darwin Casino and Hotel from MGM Grand and rebrands the property, SKYCITY Darwin.
2019: SKYCITY Darwin joins the Delaware North portfolio of unique gaming and resort properties and renames the property as Mindil Beach Casino Resort.
