THE principal of Essington International School has resigned amid reports of an internal conflict on the school board about his leadership.
In a statement obtained by the NT News, the school board confirmed that David Cannon has tendered his resignation after 20 years working at Essington in the role of principal and CEO.
“Late last year the board announced that Mr Cannon was taking long service leave for the first school term of this year,” the statement said.
“However, after having the time and space to contemplate his future, Mr Cannon has tendered his resignation to the Board in his role as Principal/CEO.
“The board and the wider community collectively acknowledge Mr Cannon’s 20 year tenure and his pivotal role in the school’s growth.
