COTA SENIORS EXPO

Written by on 09/05/2023

The Seniors Expo is Back again – Saturday the 27th of May from 10am to 2pm in the CDU Stadium, Sitzler Netball Centre at 235 Abala Road, Marrara

Created by COTA with the aim of bringing people together, to foster community connections it is a fantastic not-to-be-missed jam packed event and with over 65 exhibitors there will be a little bit of everything.

Here’s just some of what will be available on the day! Fitness sessions, a chance to explore what’s available out there, an opportunity to ask questions and even have a go using different equipment if you like. Fashion, music, with dance groups, musicians, choirs and more, craft activities, food, fun, Pat a Pony (yes a real one) and of course 104One live and local from 9am.

We personally, quite like the idea of seated aerobics and getting our hands on a senior card and we also love the idea of free entry with morning tea and refreshments provided also free of charge.

The atmosphere at COTA NT Expo’s is upbeat and energising, it’s always great to get the chance to speak to real people and not an automated service. The exhibitors themselves will be showcasing a range of topics and products relevent to seniors including mental health, aged care, retirement, end of life and estate planning, finances, concessions, pensions, consumer rights, ombudsman and complaints service, safety digital literacy, research and education. All this in air-conditioned comfort alongside crafts, jewellery and artwork created by seniors.

The stadium itself is easy to access and suitable for mobility scooters, assistance animals, wheelchairs, and walkers.

The formal welcome and opening will take place at 10am by COTA’s new patron, His Honour, Hugh Heggie, Administrator of the Northern Territory, with special guest the Hon Lauren Moss MLA, Minister for seniors.

This will be followed by a group photo opportunity expressing seniors support of the “No More” Campaign led by Charlie King.

So make sure you come down and check it out.
