THE man in custody over the alleged killing of four people in Darwin on Tuesday night is Ben Hoffman.

Hoffman, 45, is the brother of Clint Hoffman, a well-known member of the Darwin business community.

Hoffman has long been on the police radar.

Police Commissioner Reece Kershaw said on Tuesday night “a number of interactions, adverse, with the police force”.

Hoffman had been released on parole in January this year and was wearing an electronic monitoring device, Mr Kershaw said.

Police on Wednesday morning were still trying to piece together potential motives for the attack.

Hoffman’s brother, Clint, is today flying back to Darwin from an overseas trip, sources say.

On Wednesday morning, Hoffman was yet to be charged.
