Clown attacked in Darwin

A MAN has been arrested after allegedly stabbing an inflatable clown outside a car yard on Mitchell St.
The man is alleged to have repeatedly stabbed the clown outside Advanced Car Rentals about 10am Saturday before being apprehended by a manager.
Police arrived shortly after to arrest the man, who advised officers “he hated that clown” before being taken to the Darwin City Watch House where he was charged with one count each of Going Armed in Public and Damage to Property.
He has been bailed to appear before the Darwin Local Court on July 4, 2019.
The clown is one of 40 around Darwin sent forward by The Great Moscow Circus to spruik the show.
Circus master Mark Edgley said the circus wouldn’t press charges.
Mr Edgely said man-on-clown violence, which may or may not be coulrophobia related, was often levelled at the circus’s inflatable fleet.
In one particularly nasty evening in Perth last year, 11 Moscow Circus clowns were stabbed when a man went berserk at Hamilton Hill.
