Death in plastic, it’s fantastic’: The Barbie movie has spiked an interest in hot pink themed coffins and funeral homes are loving it offering the themed coffins to fans who want to take their love for the doll to the grave.

If you’ve been living under a rock – the film starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling has been taking the box office by storm since it’s release in late July.

One company, Olivares Funeral Home, is promoting their “Barbie House” coffin with the slogan: “So you can rest like Barbie.”

Alpha and Omega Funeral Home in Ahuachapán, El Salvador, offers a Barbie-themed coffin and got ahead of the trend by launching their pink coffin around a year ago.

Undertaker Isaac Villegas told Jam Press that interest in the vibrant coffin was unprecedented.

‘We wanted to promote the pink coffin as it has become a trend and people have been contacting us. Of the 40 people who inquired about it, we have already closed a contract with at least 10 new clients,’ Villegas said.

He added: ‘We even ran out of stock.’

The Barbie film has also caused a global shortage of pink paint because the set required such high quantities of the colour.
