A rusty old service station for sale has appeared on a report from realestate.com as one of the top searched listings in all of Australia.
The iconic Speers Point property at 155 Main Rd is the old local Shell garage, but has been an unused business for decades.

Selling agent Shaun Elms from Ray White Newcastle was unsure about why the listing was attracting interest nationally, but he said that it was very recognisable from a local perspective.
“It’s a well-known landmark in the area, people use it for wedding photos,” he said.
“It’s definitely a bit of a time machine, I’m sure locals are wondering what the heck you could do with it.”
Just 400 metres from Lake Macquarie.
Held within the same family for around 18 years, the property is a bit of an empty shell with old vehicles stored inside.
Zoned R3 Medium to high density, it could be potentially transformed for a number of uses, including residential and business.
Inside is a maze of junk and old vehicles.
On a level block with excellent frontage of 20.1 metres, excellent street access and a total area of 809sqm, Mr Elms said that the building could suit a unique home or something like a cafe or restaurant.
“It’s interesting because there’s a local heritage order in place so the facade has to remain the same,” he said.
